INTEGRATIVE THAI MASSAGE
Taking place on a pad on the floor, the client remains fully clothed and passive while the therapist manipulates their body positions into "lazy man's yoga" poses and applies compression, and gentle stretching to promote flexibility, circulation, joint health, etc. I apply leverage with feet, knees, shins, elbows and combining traditional Thai techniques for holistic integration with western Myofascial and Orthopedic concepts to treat specific injuries. This massage can be used to relax and restore the body's equilibrium, reduce pain and inflammation, release and diffuse increase range of motion, acupressure, and full body treatments. Treatments may include the use of tools such as Tok Sen, a Thai Tapotment technique with a wooden hammer and chisel, and Gua Sha, a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves scrapping the skin with a spoon to release stagnation. |
PRENATAL MASSAGE
Pregnancy massage focuses on addressing the special needs of expecting women. Specially-supportive side-lying and supine postures are used to prevent putting pressure on the abdomen. Massage will be more relaxing than therapeutic, aimed at alleviating the pressure of the low back and hips, relieving back pain, and can help reduce anxiety as well as improve labor outcomes. Thai massage is ideal for pregnant women and therefore my choice, although table prenatal is available on request. |
MASSAGE FOR MUSICIANS
I have worked with many types of musicians over the course of my career, first massaging performing musical artists at music festivals and now with classical musicians at Avaloch Farm Music Institute. Many musicians end up with nerve impingement and pain, repetitive strain injuries, and postural misalignments from years of molding their body to their instruments. I offer pre-show “tune-ups” for musicians before they perform, regularly scheduled maintenance to prevent repetitive stress injuries, and therapeutic massage for the treatment of injuries that come with the life of traveling and performing. |
