About
Hannah Landes, LMT, E-RYT, YACEP
I offer a blend of Eastern and Western modalities of both manual therapy and movement therapy. It is a joy to be able to offer to others the benefits of practices that have helped me so much.
I am a registered yoga teacher, licensed orthopedic and Thai massage therapist, and certified Reiki practitioner in central Tel Aviv with 10+ years in the field. Since attending Cortiva Institute of Massage in 2013, I have studied myofascial and orthopedic massage therapy with Tom Karis, OMT (Burlington, MA), Thai massage with Jack Chaiya (Chiang Mai, Thailand), as well as anatomy and osteopathic techniques with Ed Cardinal, PT, CPT (South Kingston, RI). In 2019 I participated in a four-day cadaver dissection to deepen my understanding and visualization of human anatomy. I have also informally trained in Shiatsu and Ayurvedic massage to integrate use of energetic pressure points in addition to pathological trigger points that cause pain. I have recently added two tool-based treatments to address stubborn deep tissue conditions: Tok Sen—a Thai tapotement technique that utilizes a wooden hammer and chisel and stimulates specific deep tissue to release—and Gua Sha—a traditional Chinese medicine scraping technique that breaks up restrictions and removes stagnation from the tissue.
A yoga practitioner for over a decade, I have studied and practiced many different forms. After my first yoga teacher training at Inner Strength (hot power yoga, Watertown, MA) in 2014 and practicing vinyasa-style extensively, I discovered Ashtanga yoga and practiced diligently for many years, studying with Mickey Barr, LMT, E-RYT 500 (Cambridge, MA). Eventually ashtanga yoga became too potentially injurious, so I branched out into Iyengar yoga and Yoga Synergy, a movement system composed by Simon Borg Olivier, MSc BAppSc, that combines attention to physiology with both traditional asana and non-tradition transitions between the postures. I completed my 500 hour teacher training with Simon in 2019 (Ubud, Bali). Most recently during the pandemic, I began practicing Bikram-style yoga and was impressed with the threads of connection I could sense to all my previous yoga forms. I now maintain a structured home practice of asana and pranayama with information from each of these systems, and with a broader understanding of sequencing fundamentals that I can impart on to others.

Having simultaneously earned my accreditation in massage and yoga, I emphasize anatomy and physiology in all of my practices to maximize healthy integration and limit unsafe action. But the body is so much more than a mechanical object; it is the totality of every movement we have taken, emotion we have felt, and food we have eaten. With the benefit of studying both anatomical and energetic systems as well as touching thousands of people, I have experienced personally and seen the relief of emotional or mental weight as a result of a release of physical pain.
I grew up in Boston and have recently made Aliyah and moved to Israel. I find a lot of joy in learning new tactile things, and in addition to yoga and massage, my practices include being an avid cook, a beginner Tabla and percussion musician, an amateur fire-spinner, an informally-trained martial artist, and a contact improv and belly dancer. One of my greatest joys petting dogs into a puddle on the ground, especially if the owner exclaims that the dog almost never lets people do such a thing.
